Barney switched from tailback to wide receiver as a junior and then earned First-team All-Big Eight honors twice and All-America accolades (1966)
Recruited by Clay Stapleton to lead his run-heavy offense, the Cyclone coach started passing more and Barney responded with 35 catches in 1965
Broke Big Eight records for catches in a season (56) and game (11 vs. Arizona) and yards in a season (782) and game (175 vs. Arizona)
Played in the Blue-Gray Game and the Senior Bowl before being drafted by his hometown Browns in 1967
A tremendous athlete, Barney ran the 100 in 9.8 seconds and high jumped 6-4
