Rushed for a then-ISU record 1,260 yards and 15 TDs as the Cyclones earned their first-ever bowl trip (1971 Sun Bowl)
Set a Big Eight record with 2,387 yards of total offense as a senior and was named the conference Player of the Year (beating out Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Rodgers)
First-team All-American (Gold Sheet) in 1972, he quarterbacked ISU to a 23-23 tie with No. 3 Nebraska
Selected 14th in the first-round of the 1973 NFL Draft
As a prep, he set a national record with a discus throw of 211-4, but the mark wasn’t recognized because of an uneven terrain
