A two-time All-American, Martin’s individual NCAA championship at 165 pounds in 1933 helped the Cyclones win their first-ever national team title
Won Big Six Conference championships twice and was also crowned 1934 AAU national champ after pinning all of his opponents
Served two terms (1936-42 and 1946-70) as head wrestling coach at Wisconsin
Considered the “Father of High School Wrestling” in the state of Wisconsin after his tireless promotion of the sport
Inducted into the Helms Athletic Foundation (1969), the Iowa Wrestling (1970), the National Wrestling (1982) and the Wisconsin Athletics (2005) Halls of Fame
