- Wallace has the distinction of being the first Cyclone to earn First-team All-America honors (per the Chicago Tribune’s Walter Eckersall)
- On offense he played center and on defense he played what experts of that time called “roving center”, an early name for what is known today as linebackerÂ
- In the first homecoming win in Ames history, Wallace blocked a punt in the 1917 game vs. Kansas that led to a 10-7 victory
- Three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference pick and a senior team captain
- Wrestled for three years (career mark of 13-0-1) and won the intercollegiate heavyweight championship in 1921
