COLLEGE STATION, Texas- Iowa State soccer team was unable to handle a stringy seventh-ranked Texas A&M. “Now we have to refocus our energy on games ahead of us," said head coach Rebecca Hornbacher. "We need to get a win to put us in a position to make the Big 12 Champion Tournament.”
The team will now focus on earning conference points against No. 14 Texas on Sunday. After falling to the Aggies, 7-0, Iowa State needs a victory to keep its hope for a place in the conference tournament alive. Kickoff for the Cyclones and the Longhorns is as noon in Austin, Texas.
“It was a very talented team we played against. Texas A&M is very deserving of their ranking. Their offense was composed and created a lot of opportunities.”
The Aggies controlled the ball for most of the game, allowing Iowa State only four shots. Freshman Lauren Odino took one shot on goal in the second half, trying to spark the Cyclone offense. Odino has 12 shots on goal this season.
