Iowa State started out strong posting a 49.100 on bars lead by freshman Nikki Dilbert (9.850) and senior Katie Lasher (9.850). NU's Kylie Stone took the bars title scoring 9.90, followed by a five way tie for second place featuring Lasher, Dilbert and Nebraska's Stephanie Carter, Brittney Williams, and Michelle Zabawa.
On vault in the second rotation, ISU's Megan Barnes scored a 9.90, tying her season-high. She has scored a 9.90 in the event the past two consecutive meets and took second place Sunday afternoon. NU's Emily Parsons owned the title, scoring a 9.925 in the opening rotation. The Huskers' continued to hold the early lead, 98.475-98.100 after two events.
The Cyclones tried to narrow the Huskers' lead by performing well on floor. They tallied a 48.850, but could not top Nebraska's 49.225 on beam. Janet Anson tied for third on floor with a 9.875, followed by Dilbert in sixth, scoring a season-high 9.775.
Coming down to the final rotation, the Cyclones posted a 48.800, but the effort was not enough to upend the Huskers. Janet Anson anchored ISU with a 9.90, tying her season-high. She and NU's Parsons tied for first place. The Cyclones' Melanie Tham also tied a season high (9.80) and senior Jade Kvach (9.80) also performed well. Tham and Kvach tied with Nebraska's Desire' Sniatynski for sixth place in the event.
In the all-around, Anson (39.400) finished second overall with Nebraska's Parson taking top honors. Parsons placed first on vault (9.925) and floor (9.925) and held a share of the beam title. Iowa State's Dilbert had four season-highs (bars, beam, floor and all-around) en route to a total of 39.125, in just her second meet as an all-around competitor. She finished fourth overall.
The Cyclones return to action in Ames on Friday, March 23, for the last dual meet of the season. Iowa State plays host to Iowa and Denver on Senior Night. March-in begins at 7 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum.
