STILLWATER, Okla.?Ninth-ranked Oklahoma State proved to the Iowa State soccer team why it has the top statistical offense in the Big 12 Conference, as the Cyclones fell 7-0 Friday at Cowgirl Stadium.
Iowa State (5-10-2, 0-6-2) came into the match playing improved defense as of late, allowing a 0.95 goals-against average the past four matches. The Cyclones' defense, playing without two injured starters, held for the opening half hour before Oklahoma State (14-1-2, 5-1-2 Big 12) flexed its offensive muscle.

The Cowgirls, who came into the match averaging 3.50 goals per match, found the back of the net at the 32:35 mark when junior forward Siera Strawser notched her seventh goal of the season. Oklahoma State doubled its lead under six minutes later off a Jamie Markeverich goal. The Cowgirls added a third with 1:13 remaining in the opening half off Strawser's second.
The story in the second half changed little as OSU tallied its fourth off a Yolanda Odenyo goal 6:24 into the final frame. The Cowgirls did not take the pedal off the accelerator, adding their fifth in the 54th minute off Odenyo's second. Strawser registered her third of the match in the 73rd minute. OSU added its final tally in the 75th minute when Katie Richardson scored.
“We were without two starting defenders tonight and it really caught up to us,” first-year ISU coach Wendy Dillinger said. “Oklahoma State capitalized on that and (the Cowgirls) finished their opportunities.”
Junior midfielder Jordan Bishop, junior forward Amanda Nimtz and senior forward Leslie Hill led Iowa State with two shots each. Goalkeepers Ann Gleason and Ashley Costanzo each played a half, with Gleason playing the first before giving way to Costanzo. They both registered four saves.
Iowa State stays in Oklahoma for its next match, traveling to Norman for a 1 p.m. match with Oklahoma (2-14-1, 1-6-1 Big 12) Sunday. The Sooners fell 1-0 to Nebraska Friday in Norman.
