Cyclones Fall at No. 19 Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa ? Iowa State fell to instate rival Iowa, 195.350-192.650, in Carver Hawkeye Arena Friday night.
“We dug ourselves a hole early,” ISU coach Jay Ronayne said. “I'm disappointed with our performance. Despite our nagging injuries we should still be able to overcome them.”
The win gives Iowa two points in the annual Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series. Those points aren't enough however, as the Cyclones already had the title wrapped up before the meet. ISU holds an 18-7 lead in the rivalry series.
Iowa took a slim 48.725-48.575 lead after the first rotation. Nikki Dilbert led the Cyclones with a 9.825 on bars. Jody McKellar scored a career-best 9.800 and Ceilia Maccani added a 9.700 for ISU. Jenifer Simbhudas led Iowa on the vault with a score of 9.800.
Iowa State saw the Hawkeyes' lead increase in rotation two as Iowa put up a score of 48.950 on bars while the Cyclones scored 47.950 on vault. Megan Barnes and Dilbert led the Cyclones with scores of 9.775 on vault.
Iowa upped its lead to 146.450-144.975 after the third rotation. ISU came away with a score of 48.450 on floor, led by Jasmine Thompson's 9.825. Anna Robey, Katie Sweetin and Melaine Tham all posted scores of 9.725 for the Cyclones.
Iowa State posted a 47.625 on beam in the fourth rotation. McKellar set her second career-high of the meet with a 9.750 to lead the Cyclones. Dilbert and Thompson also had scores of 9.750 on beam.
Iowa's Jenifer Simbhudas won the all-around competition with a score of 39.250. Dilbert posted a 38.850 to finish third.
