AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State women's basketball team defeated USC Upstate 98-76 behind a record-setting 25-point performance by freshman
Bryanna Fernstrom. With the victory, Iowa State extended its streak to 20-consecutive season-opening wins. All 20 wins have occurred under head coach
Bill Fennelly.
How it happened…Fernstrom started off hot in her first career start as she netted 12 of Iowa State's first 14 points, entering double-digits at the 16:31 mark in the half. Iowa State showcased a potent offensive attack, with eight different players scoring in the first half. The Cyclones led by as many as 25 in the first as it cruised to a 53-32 halftime lead.
The Cyclones' led the way in the first, shooting 19-of-31 from the field for 61.3 percent.
Iowa State continued its hot shooting into the second half grabbing a game-high 27-point lead with 4:27 remaining in the second half.

Brynn Williamson grabbed her first double-double of her career with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Williamson also set a career-high with 12 rebounds. Sophomore
Seanna Johnson also joined the double-double club with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Johnson's 20 points ties a career high she set against Eastern Washington last season.
For the game, Iowa State put five Cyclones in double-digits with Fernstrom (25), Johnson (20), Williamson (13), Blaskowsky (10) and Durr (10).
