AMES, Iowa – Behind a career-high 24-point performance from senior Nikki Moody, the Iowa State women's basketball team (5-1, 0-0 Big 12) topped the Stony Brook Seawolves (3-5, 0-0 America East) 74-64 in Hilton Coliseum.
How it happened…
It was a battle from the get-go as neither team could take a sizeable lead until the very end. With 3:40 remaining in the game and Iowa State holding a slight 62-60 lead, senior Brynn Williamson would net her first 3-pointer of the game to give Iowa State its largest lead thus far, 65-60.
On the other end, freshman Emily Durr would grab a crucial defensive rebound and kick it to senior Moody for a fastbreak layup. Moody would also draw a foul to give Iowa State a 68-60 lead. With the Hilton Coliseum crowd on its feet, the Cyclones would maintain the lead and close the game by a score of 74-64.
The Cyclones would place three players in double figures: Moody (24), Seanna Johnson (19) and Jadda Buckley (13).
Iowa State closed the game shooting 46.6 percent (27-58 FG).
Game Ball Goes To...
Nikki Moody. The senior was clutch when the Cyclones needed a basket and she delivered. Moody would finished the first half with 11 points and three assists, but would finish with a final stat line of 24 points, seven assists and four rebounds.
Moody scored six of her career-high 24 points when Iowa State needed it most, with under three minutes to play.
Moody has dished five or more assists in 66 career games and five of six games this season.

*Johnson recorded her 21st game in double figures with 19 points vs. Stony Brook.
