AMES, Iowa – No. 14 Iowa State (6-1) raced out to an early lead and never looked back in a 73-56 victory over UMKC (3-7) Tuesday night in Hilton Coliseum.
Bryce Dejean-Jones led the way with his third 20-point game of the season (22 points) and Monte' Morris added 13 points in the victory.
Georges Niang had nine points and a team-high seven assists, one shy from his career high. He also led the Cyclones in rebounding with seven, helping ISU outrebound UMKC, 38-25.

How it happened…
Iowa State jumped out to an early 17-4 lead and led by as many as 21 points in the first half. ISU made its shots and forced five UMKC turnovers to take control at the beginning.
Dejean-Jones had 14 points in the first half on 5-of-7 shooting. He hit a trey to make it 41-20 ISU with 3:20 left in the first half. The Kangaroos scored the final five points of the half to cut the deficit to 41-27 at the break.
The Cyclones began the second half sluggish, as the Kangaroos trimmmed the ISU lead to 48-37 behind a 7-0 run with 12:19 left in the game. ISU made just 3-of-13 shots from the floor to begin the second period.
The ISU lead quickly shot up to 20 points (62-42) with 6:54 remaining behind a 10-2 Cyclone run. Naz Long knocked down a trey and then made a lay-up thanks to a nifty behind-the-back pass from Dejean-Jones. Morris then hit a corner trey and Dejean-Jones capped off the run with a dunk to give ISU the comfortable lead.

Bryce Dejean-Jones. Bryce Dejean-Jones led the Cyclones in scoring for the second consecutive game with 22 points. Dejean-Jones was 9-of-12 from the floor and 2-of-4 from 3-point range.
Dejean-Jones is 17-of-20 from the field and 6-of-8 from long range in his last two games. He has three 20-point games on the season and nine in his career.
