AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State (3-3-2) women's soccer defeated the Omaha Mavericks (1-5-2) 4-1 on Thursday night. Tonight, marked the first time Iowa State recorded four goals in a match since 2014 when they defeated Mississippi State 5-1 in the season-opener.
First career goals by Lauren Hernandez, Salomé Prat and Leia Khairy cemented the win for Iowa State.
The victory over Omaha represented the 99th win at home in program history. Iowa State will have the opportunity to go for number 100 when they host conference foe Kansas State next Thursday.
How It HappenedÂ
The Mavericks would jump out to a 1-0 lead after a 6th minute goal.
Iowa State would respond in the 26th minute after Lauren Hernandez found the back of the net after an Omaha deflection.
Hernandez's goal was the first of her Iowa State career.
Omaha would continue to attack the rest of the first half but wouldn't find the back of the net.
The Mavericks out-shot the Cyclones 8-3 in the first half.
The match was tied 1-1 after the first half.
A quick score in the 47th minute by Salomé Prat put Iowa State up 2-1.
The goal by Prat was her first as a Cyclone.
ISU would respond with another goal, this time by Jasmine Colbert in the 65th minute.
It was the first goal for Jasmine Colbert since the season-opening match versus Arizona.
The assist was Lauren Hernandez's first of the season and first in her career.
In the 88th minute, Leia Khairy recorded her first goal as a Cyclone.
Hernandez, once again, recorded an assist.
The Cyclones would only give up three shots on goal in the second half.
Goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz recorded six saves in the victory.

The Cyclones will have a week off before Big 12 play begins. Iowa State will host Kansas State on Thursday, Sept. 22. Kickoff versus the Wildcats is set for 6:00 p.m (CT).Â
