Iowa State swimming and diving (2-0, 0-0 Big 12) swims its third meet of the season on Friday night, traveling to Lincoln, Nebraska (1-2, 0-2 Big Ten).
THE OPPONENT – Nebraska
This marks the 50th match-up between the Cyclones and Huskers, meeting nearly every year since the first competition in 1972.
The Cornhuskers are 1-2 to start the season, with a common win against South Dakota and losses to Minnesota and Iowa.
LAST TIME OUT – South Dakota
The Cyclones dominated South Dakota in their meet last week in Ames. Iowa State won 13 of 16 events to take a 179-119 win over the Coyotes.
Senior Carley Caughron led ISU with three event wins, claiming individual titles in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly while helping the 200 medley relay team to a win. Junior Corinne Guist also took home two titles in the 500 free and 1000 free, contributing to the dominant win.
In diving, Kate Mitchell won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving while Ally Blumenfeld took a second place finish in 3-meter.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR - Diving and Sprint Freestyle
Last week, Carley Caughron won three of her events (50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly), while also helping her relay team to a victory in the 200 medley relay. Matt Leach, head coach for the Cyclones, was excited about her performances, adding dominance this early in the season.
Divers Mitchell and Blumenfeld will look to continue their strong starts with podium finishes in both 1-meter and 3-meter diving.
ON DECK - The Hawkeye Invitational
The Cyclones take on their first invitational of the season when they travel to Iowa City to compete in the Hawkeye Invitational on November 21-23.
