UNCASVILLE, Conn. – Iowa State (9-4, 0-0 Big 12) fell to No. 4 UConn (10-1, 0-0 Big East) 101-68 in the Invesco QQQ Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase Tuesday night.
UConn came out hot, making 10 3-pointers in the first led by Ashlynn Shade's 20 points including 6-of-6 shooting from the 3-point line. The Huskies were unstoppable totaling a school-record 20 3-pointers while three scored 20-plus points. Sarah Strong led with 29.
Audi Crooks was the leader for Iowa State with 22 on 9-of-14 shooting, her third straight 20-plus game and seventh of the season. Sydney Harris scored 17 shooting at 75 percent from the field and making five of ISU's eight triples.
How it Happened
Crooks put the first points on the board, while UConn took the next eight. Crooks would stop the run with a layup, but the Huskies kept shooting hot with their fourth early 3-pointer to build a 14-6 lead with 5:59 to go in the opening frame. The advantage stretched to double figures at the media timeout after another shot from deep, and UConn followed to total 10 3s in the quarter on its way to a 36-10 lead.
Paige Bueckers drained her fourth 3 on as many attempts continuing to extend UConn's lead, with ISU following with the early timeout at 8:46. Emily Ryan competed a 3-point play, making for five straight Iowa State points, but UConn's lead remained over 20. With six minutes left in the half, Harris netted the Cyclones' first 3 and hit another pair. The run continued to 11 straight as Addy Brown sent in a jumper, cutting the deficit to 14 (47-33). At the half, UConn led 54-34.
After UConn went on a 12-2 run, Arianna Jackson fired off a 3 but could not halt the Huskies. UConn went on another scoring spree of eight, making it 74-42 at the media timeout. The Huskies continued to seemingly not miss from 3, recording their 16th to lead by 32 with 4:03 on the clock and UConn would lead it 81-52 into the final frame.
UConn went on to win the contest 101-68.

ISU now moves to Big 12 play, traveling to Stillwater Saturday, Dec. 21 at 4 p.m. to meet Oklahoma State. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
