How it Happened
BYU jumped out to a 15-4 lead at the first media timeout as ISU struggled to shoot efficiently. Out of the break, Aili Tanke broke up the 7-0 Cougar run with a shot from deep but the visitors hit a jumper next to keep their lead at double digits (17-7). Brown's 3-point attempt just rolled out as the first quarter drew to a close with Iowa State within six at 18-12.
A 3-pointer by Sydney Harris made it 20-15 with 7:45 to go in the second, and two Crooks free throws came next to cut the deficit to three. With BYU up 23-19 at 4:41, Kelsey Joens sent in a shot from beyond the arc to make it a one-point game. After two tough and-1s and a jumper by Brown, ISU took a 30-25 lead to cause a BYU timeout. Brown wasn't done there, netting a 3 soon after, while Joens also sent one in with under a minute remaining to give ISU the halftime 38-33 lead.
A jumper by Crooks and a 3 by Arianna Jackson kicked off the second half before an early Cougar timeout. Iowa State kept the run alive, stretching it to 10 for a 48-33 advantage. ISU continued to build up the advantage and with nine seconds left in the third, Jackson stole the ball while Harris drove up to the basket sending in a layup through contact and proceeding to make her free throw. Heading into the fourth, the Cyclones' lead sat at 66-44.
Iowa State continued to control the game, winning it 82-59.
