AMES, Iowa – Iowa State women's basketball junior forward Addy Brown has been named to the Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year preseason watch list, announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Thursday. It is the second time in her career that she has been featured on the award's watch list after being named a Top 10 finalist a season ago.
Brown joins teammate Jada Williams (Nancy Lieberman Award) as Cyclones to appear on Naismith Starting 5 award watch lists so far this season. Iowa State is one of 23 women's programs to have at least two student-athletes named to watch lists. With Cyclone men's basketball players Tamin Lipsey (Bob Cousy Award), Milan Momcilovic (Julius Erving Award) and Joshua Jefferson (Karl Malone Award), Iowa State is one of six institutions to have five student-athletes recognized on the preseason watch lists.
Brown is widely regarded as one of the most well-rounded women's basketball players nationally. She has recorded at least 400 points, 250 rebounds and 150 assists in each of her first two seasons as a Cyclone, the only women's player in Iowa State history to manage the feat and one of just six NCAA Division I women's basketball players since 1999-2000 to reach the marks twice. The Derby, Kansas native has started all 68 games in her ISU career. As a sophomore, Brown averaged 15.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game, scoring in double figures 28 times and finishing 11 games with 20-plus points. She dropped a career-high 41 points in the Big 12 Championships Second Round against Arizona State (March 6, 2025), going 5-of-9 from beyond the arc and 10-of-11 at the free throw line.
Iowa State opens the regular season on Monday, November 3 against St. Thomas. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. as the Cyclones host Field Trip Day in Hilton Coliseum.
