Ames, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team wrapped up its weekend tournament in Waco on Sunday, going 3-1 in singles on the final day.
Valeska San Martin Ramirez took home the orange singles draw via injury withdrawal by Daniela Chica from Rice. San Martin was ahead 4-1 at the point of withdrawal. Gabriella Kellner took home the yellow singles draw by downing Denver's Remy Nguyen, 6-2, 6-2. Suzanie Pretorius picked up her first singles win of the weekend by taking down UTRGV's Yaiza Vasquez, 6-0, 6-3. Kira Smith fell in her Sunday singles match.
The Cyclones will take the courts again on November 18, when Mari Paz Alberto Vilar and Stanislava Shulzhenko compete in the NCAA doubles championships in Orlando.
