AMES, Iowa – Rachel Van Gorp earned the status of All-American with the AVCA's announcement Wednesday. Van Gorp picked up second team honors to become the first underclassman in program history on First or Second Team All-America.
The Olathe, Kansas native is the fourth Iowa State libero to be selected for an All-America team. She is the first Cyclone since 2015, and seventh total, to be placed on second team or higher. Iowa State now holds 13 first through third team honors and 28 All-America nods including honorable mention.
Van Gorp's 2025 accolades list includes includes AVCA Second Team All-America, AVCA First Team All-Region, Big 12 Libero of the Year, First Team All-Big 12 and two Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors. She is the third true sophomore to earn Big 12 Libero of the Year at ISU.
Van Gorp put together a streak of 35 matches with double figure digs that was capped in the NCAA Tournament Second Round, and had 11 20-plus and two 30-plus dig matches. In ISU's first round win vs. St. Thomas, Van Gorp had the second-most digs by a Cyclone in tournament match with 33. Van Gorp also served four aces, the third-most at the tournament. Van Gorp ends her season totaling 556 digs, 120 assists and 37 aces while dialing in a reception percentage of .980 on 543 receptions.
Her defense led to the Cyclones' success on offense as ISU ended 2025 as the Big 12 leader in digs and kills. Iowa State hit at .245 through the season, the fourth highest in program history.
Van Gorp will be honored at the AVCA All-America banquet in Kansas City this Friday.
