No. 14 Cyclones Fall at No. 4 UNI

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – No. 14 Iowa State (11-5, 5-2 Big 12) fell at No. 4 UNI (13-1, 7-1 Big 12), 26-10, Sunday afternoon inside the McLeod Center. The Cyclones had victories from Evan Frost (133), Cody Chittum (157) and Daniel Herrera (285) in the dual.

The loss snapped ISU's three-dual win streak and was UNI's first win over the Cyclones in the last six tries.

No. 5 Evan Frost opened the scoring with a solid 8-0 major decision over No. 17 Julian Farber at 133 pounds. Farber was in deep on Frost's legs multiple times but the Cyclone's shot defense proved to be superb. Frost had two takedowns and over two minutes of riding time in the match.

UNI picked up decisions at 141 and 149 pounds before No. 11 Cody Chittum won the rematch of last year's 157-pound Big 12 title match against No. 5 Ryder Downey. Chittum got the only takedown of the match in the third period en route to a 4-2 decision.

UNI led, 9-7, at the intermission after a decision at 165 pounds.

The Panthers rattled off victories at 174, 184 and 197 pounds before No. 27 Daniel Herrera stopped the bleeding at heavyweight. Herrera got a remarkable takedown on the edge in the third period to defeat No. 14 Lance Runyon, 3-1. The win avenged Herrera's 2-0 loss to Runyon at the Grand View Open earlier this season.

UNI closed the dual with a fall at 125 pounds.
