AMES, Iowa – The Cyclones (3-5, 0-2 Big 12) head to Federal Way, Washington for the 2025 Big 12 Championships. Competition begins on February 25th and ends on March 1st.
Around the Conference
Iowa State will compete against Big 12 opponents TCU, Kansas, Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Utah, Cincinnati, Houston and West Virginia.
The Cyclones recently took on TCU and Kansas, with both duals ending in defeat. TCU topped Iowa State 214-67, while the Jayhawks secured a 181-117 victory.
Last Time Out – Kansas
The Cyclones secured three all-time top-10 performances and four personal bests.
Mallory Miller won the 1000 freestyle with a personal best and a seven spot in the all-time top performer's list with a time of 10:06.39.
Two freshmen earned honors in the record book. Grace Swoboda won the 100 breast with a personal best, a sixth spot on the all-time top performer's list and the third best freshmen time in history.
Anja Peck made waves by winning gold in the 200 breast, securing the fifth spot on the all-time top performers list, recording the second-fastest time in freshman history, and achieving a personal best with a time of 2:14.70.
Winter Craig took her fifth gold of the season in the 200 fly with a time of 2:02.42.
Four Cyclones earned NCAA zone diving qualifying scores against the Jayhawks. In 1-meter, Maggie Bendell took second place with a score of 281.93. Kate Mitchell and Abby Tollefson followed in third and fourth with a score of 276.98 and 274.05.
In the 3-meter, Mitchell and Ally Blumenfeld took third and fourth place and qualified for zone cuts with scores of 289.28 and 282.53.
What to Watch For - Breast and Fly
Swoboda and Peck have excelled in the breaststroke events and are determined to cap off their freshman season on a high note.
Winter Craig has been a force for the Cyclone squad this season in the 200 fly, never finishing lower than third overall.
