Cyclones Fall To No. 23 Baylor, 4-1

Ames, Iowa – No. 53 Iowa State dropped its Friday match to No. 23 Baylor, 4-1. The Cyclones fall to 9-6 overall and 3-4 in conference with the loss.

In doubles, the Cyclones nearly completed an improbable comeback. On court two, Julia Camblor and Gabriela Felix dropped their match to Sierra Barry and Na Dong, 6-0, while the Cyclones trailed in each of the other two matches. But the two Cyclone pairs showed fight, each tying their respective matches at five a piece. But it wasn't enough, as the Bears got the clincher on court one, 7-5.

In singles, the Cyclones once again showed fight but came up just short. Julia Camblor picked up a win on court two over Liubuv Kostenko, 6-4, 7-6 (5). But the Bears tallied victories on courts four, five and six to clinch the match, 4-1.

Iowa State's Anna Supapitch Kuearum and Mari Paz Alberto Vilar were in favorable position when their matches were abandoned on courts one and three, respectively.

The Cyclones are back in action at home on Sunday at noon against No. 33 TCU.
