EUGENE, Ore. – Rachel Joseph finished sixth in the nation, while Maelle Porcher earned Second Team All-America to close NCAA Outdoor Championships.
The Iowa State women and men have now scored at both indoor and outdoor NCAA Championships in back-to-back seasons, something Iowa State has not done since 1990-91.
Joseph went 51.36 in the stacked 400m final for sixth, earning her second First Team All-America honor and fifth total. The sprinter becomes the first multi-time outdoor 400m All-American in Iowa State women's history. She's the fourth woman to earn First Team honors, and first since Olympic gold medalist Nawal El Moutawakel in 1984.
This season, the junior has ran sub-51 seven times (five outdoor, two indoor) and now totals the top 18 times ever ran in Iowa State history. Joseph swept the Big 12 400m titles, finished fifth at NCAA Indoor Championships and reset her own individual school records (indoor 400m, outdoor 400m, outdoor 200m) five times in 2025 alone. She also anchored the school-record breaking indoor and outdoor 4x400m relays.
Moving to the 5,000m, Porcher capped 2025 NCAA Championships with a 12th-place finish, her best finish at nationals. Porcher went 15:41.76 to earn Second Team All-America. She becomes just the second in ISU women's history to earn multiple All-America honors in the outdoor 5K, and first since ISU Hall of Famer Betsy Saina. It's the eighth total All-America honor in the event for Iowa State.
Porcher began in the back of the pack and made moves with 1,600m to go. The junior posted splits of 1:11 in the final two laps to go on and take 12th.
