STILLWATER, Okla. – Six Cyclone men finished among the top 30 to help No. 20 Iowa State to a fourth-place finish at the Big 12 Championships.
"Today was a good day in seeing our team take a step forward in pursuit of our postseason goals," said head coach Jeremy Sudbury. "Every race we get better, so I'm looking forward to Regionals and Nationals!"
Joash Ruto and freshman Mikah Peters paced ISU, finishing 17th and 18th respectively. They were followed closely by Robin Kwemoi Bera and Rodgers Kiplimo, who packed together at 22nd and 23rd overall while Meshack Kimutai (27th) and Dylan Maloney (28th) also finished back-to-back. Other finishers for the Cyclones included Devan Kipyego (41st), Ryan Watts (43rd) and Jaden Merrick (63rd).
The Cyclones will move onto the NCAA Regional meet, hosting in Ames for the first time since 2017. The move to the regional meet also includes a change in distance, as the race lengthens to 10K, historically a more favorable distance for Iowa State.
