Throwers Close Weekend at Triton Invite

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The throwers wrapped up the UCSD Triton Invite Saturday with four personal record and six season bests.
The men's hammer throwers began the day, with Garret Wagner leading the Cyclones to a sixth-place finish with a season-best 201-2 (61.32m). Both of his marks this season have been over 200 feet. Nathan Rotherham and Lucas Morrison both hit personal records.
Next came the elite section of the women's shot put. Candra King, who set the hammer throw school record yesterday, took 14th with an outdoor PR of 45-9 3/4 (13.96m). Kamari Brown placed 17th with 43-3 (13.18m).
In the elite discus, Brandon Fischer entered the event with a PR of 179-4 and greatly improved on that mark with 190-4 (58.01m), setting the seventh-best performance in Iowa State history. Fischer, a sophomore, placed eighth overall out of the first flight. Michael Etuma and Daniel Norris set season bests in the event.
Norris closed the night moving to the shot put, and taking eighth in the elite section. Norris advanced to earn three more throws in the final out of flight one and finished with a best mark of 56-11 1/2 (17.36m), two feet off the ISU top 10.
Next up for the Cyclones is the Jim Duncan Invite April 10-11.
