Drew Daniel is in his first season as a graduate assistant for the Iowa State men's basketball program.Â
Daniel, a 2024 graduate of Northern Iowa, played four seasons for the Panthers before finishing his career at Minnesota State.Â
He was twice named to the Missouri Valley Conference Honor Roll, while also being an NABC Honors Court selection. He earned the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award his final season at UNI. He played in 68 games during his four seasons with Northern Iowa. During the 2022-23 season he played in 31 games and tallied 73 points and 43 rebounds. In his time at Northern Iowa, he was coached by current Cyclone assistant coaches Kyle Green and Erik Crawford, while he was teammates with Nate Heise.
In his final season at Minnesota State, he played in 23 games for the Mavericks, including two starts. He averaged 3.9 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. He scored a season-high nine points against MSU Moorhead and UMary, while hauling in a season-best seven rebounds against Minot State. He shot 50.8% from the field and 81.0% from the free throw line.
A Des Moines native, Daniel played at Dowling Catholic in high school. He led the Maroons to the 2019 and 2020 state tournament, while earning second team all-conference honors. He averaged 8.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game his senior season.Â
