Michael E. Norton serves as Senior Advisor for Athletics, General Counsel, and Chief Risk Officer at Iowa State University. A member of the university's executive leadership team, he provides strategic counsel to university and athletics leaders on complex issues involving collegiate athletics, governance, compliance, risk management, and institutional strategy.

Mike has played a leading role in developing and implementing Iowa State's Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) strategy and provides guidance on capital project development, NCAA compliance, contracts, human resources, and major athletics initiatives. Known for his collaborative and solutions-oriented leadership style, he partners closely with coaches, administrators, and university leaders to advance the success of Cyclone Athletics while supporting the broader mission of the university.

Before joining Iowa State in 2016, Mike was a partner at Husch Blackwell and a leader in the firm's higher education practice group. He brings more than 25 years of experience advising colleges and universities on legal, governance, compliance, and athletics-related matters.
