True freshman Teddy Lampkin, who originally played football for the Cyclones) also decided to stray from the sport in pursuit of track under Herber's coaching. The Cyclone jumpers earned four All-Big 12 honors at the Big 12 indoor meet, including a third-place long jump finish from Lampkin and a fifth-place finish in the heptathlon for junior college transfer Ethan Wilkins.
2010-2011 would prove to be a big year for Herber and the Iowa State jumpers and multi-event specialists. Herber brought in three recruits from Barton Community College while also utilizing the skills of true freshman Hannah Willms who doubled in volleyball and track for her freshman year. Willms earned All-Big 12 honors in the high jump and finished 12th in the event at the NCAA Indoor Championships, earning second-team All-America honors. The Cyclone jumps and multi-events group brought home four All-Big 12 performances, including a third-place finish in the pentathlon for Jordon Andreassen.
During the 2009-2010 season, Cyclone high jumper was the lone athlete to earn All-Big 12 honors for the jumps and multi-events coach as he finished sixth at the outdoor conference meet.
In the 2008-09 season, he coached junior Jenna Caffrey and freshman Jordon Andreassen to a fifth (3,582) and eight place (3,410) finishes, respectively, at the 2009 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships. Andreassen later went on to finish seventh (4,700) at the 2009 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
