Debbie (and twin sister Diane) Vetter were cornerstones of the cross country dynasty at ISU in the late 1970s
ISU won three consecutive AIAW national cross country titles during Vetter's career
Iowa State's Female Athlete of the Year in 1981
Place 10th (1977) and seventh (1978) as an individual on two of those national championship teams
Seven-time All-American and seven-time Big Eight champion
Won the 1978 NCAA Championship in the 1,500 meters, she also was a three-time national runner-up
As a cross country runner, she won Big Eight and the AIAW Region VI championships in both 1977 and 1978
