- Randall had responsibilities at different times for strength & conditioning testing, diet programming, athlete treatments, medical records and travel planning
- An innovator in his profession, Randall invented the bilateral knee brace in the 1970s which was revolutionary in that era
- One of the first trainers nationally to implement a classroom curriculum with clinical experience
- Elected to the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Hall of Fame in 1991 as well as the inaugural class of the Iowa Athletic Trainers Society Hall of Honor
