- Nicknamed the “Mayor”, the Ames-born superstar ranked among the school’s Top 10 in seven stat categories when he graduated
- As a senior in 1995, Hoiberg was Big Eight co-Athlete of the Year and an All-American while the school won a then-school record 23 games
- First Division 1A athlete from the state of Iowa named to CoSIDA's Academic All-America Hall of Fame (2016)
- First-team Academic All-America honors from CoSIDA his senior season
- Scored 32 points, including 17 straight in the second half, to boost ISU to a 69-65 win over third-ranked Kansas in 1995
- Member of Iowa State’s All-Century Team for men’s basketball, his jersey #32 has been retired
- His 10-year NBA career (Minnesota, Indiana and Chicago) ended when he was diagnosed with a heart condition in 2005
- Named head coach at his alma mater in 2011, he quickly reversed the fortunes of the Cyclones and built one of the most-entertaining and successful programs in the nation before leaving to coach the Bulls
