Helped build one of the NCAA’s greatest wrestling dynasties as a wrestler, assistant coach and administrator
Two-time NCAA and Big Eight Champion and a three-time All-American
An assistant coach to Harold Nichols (his former coach) from 1964-74 when the Cyclones won five NCAA titles with 20 individual champions and 47 All-Americans
Went to Washington as head coach but returned to ISU for a second stint as assistant coach (1979-92), including the NCAA championship season of 1987
An innovator in his sport, Anderson was one of the first coaches to direct summer clinics and he helped create the first national coaches’ convention
Inducted into the State of Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1984 and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2004
