Became the first Cyclone to play in the NFL (for George Halas’ Chicago Staleys, later re-named the Bears)
Won an intercollegiate wrestling championship, too, and the only loss of his career came in his first match when he competed with a broken hand
One of the pioneers of college wrestling (he started the program at Michigan), Barker help draft the first set of rules and assisted with planning for the inaugural NCAA Championship
Inducted in the College Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1991
