AMES, Iowa - Sophomore Jen Bice fanned 11 batters en route to a 1-0 victory over instate rival Drake, Tuesday at the Southwest Athletic Complex. Iowa State improved to 13-24 overall and 1-10 in the Big 12.
ISU's lone run came in the bottom of the first inning. Julia Lindsay led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on an Adi Blackmon sacrifice bunt. Lindsay stole third and scored on an RBI single by Lauren Cathey to give Iowa State a 1-0 lead.
The Cyclones held off Drake as Bice (8-13) gave up three hits. Cathey was 1-of-2 at the plate with one RBI. Mindy Ogan and Lindsay each contributed a hit for Iowa State.
ISU returns to action on Saturday when it travel to Lubbock, Texas, to take on Texas Tech for a two game series starting at 1 p.m.
