LUBBOCK, Texas ? The Iowa State softball team fell to Texas Tech, 8-5, Saturday afternoon in Lubbock. The Cyclones fell to 7-17 on the season and 0-1 in Big 12 play. Freshman Alyssa Ransom was on the mound for the Cyclones and struck out four Red Raider batters and walked one. Senior Julia Lindsey had a good day in the batters box, going four-for-four along with two runs and one RBI.
The Cyclones had nine hits to Texas Tech's 12, and had two errors to the Red Raider's zero. ISU had a good day with the bats and spread the offense around. In addition to Lindsey's four hits, freshman Ashley Killeen, freshman Jessica Quade, senior Kelly Wardein, sophomore Cary Akins and freshman Jennifer Bigbee all had hits. Lindsey, junior Heather McLatchie, Akins and senior Ashley Core all had runs in the Cyclone effort.
