LINCOLN, Neb. -- The No. 10 Iowa State gymnastics team notched its second-highest score of the season, but suffered its first Big 12 loss at No. 2 Nebraska (197.100-196.275). The loss was just ISU's third of the season.
On vault, Nebraska freshman Emily Parsons and senior Richelle Simpson tied for first (9.925), while ISU sophomore Janet Anson took third (9.900). Cyclone freshman Lindsey Murphy tallied a career-high 9.825 on vault tying for fifth with ISU junior Erin Dethloff and Nebraska sophomore Michele Zabawa.
Zabawa tied teammate Desire Sniatynski (9.900) for first on bars, while Dethloff and Simpson shared third (9.875).
NU sophomore Kristi Esposito placed first on balance beam (9.950), with Simpson in second (9.900). ISU junior Kacey Oiness scored a career-high 9.825 to tie for third with Carter. Oiness also recorded a career-high 9.800 on bars and a season high 9.850 on the floor exercise.
Anson tied for first place on the floor exercise with Simpson and Parsons (9.925). Cyclone junior Laura-Kay Powell placed fourth (9.875).
Simpson captured first place in the all-around (39.625). Anson seized second (39.425), Powell finished third (39.250) and Dethloff placed fourth (39.200).
