STILLWATER, Okla. - Kim Kaye went 3-for-4 with three RBI and Shianne Cruce drove in a pair of runs to lead Oklahoma State past Iowa State, 9-1 in Big 12 softball action on Sunday afternoon.
Oklahoma State (14-14, 1-1 Big 12) got on the board in the third inning when cleanup hitter Kim Kaye roped a single to center field to score Lacy Darity and Shanel Scott.
The Cowgirls scored another run in the fourth and four runs in the fifth to extend the lead to 7-0.
Five Oklahoma State hits and an error by the Cyclones highlighted the Cowgirls four-run fifth inning.
Jessica Quade hit her first home run of the season, a solo shot in the sixth, to get the Cyclones on the board but that was all the closer Iowa State would get.
The game ended in the sixth inning when Lauren Kitchens hit a sacrifice fly to left field to plate Ashleigh Tweed and give the Cowgirls the 9-1 win.
The Cyclones dropped to 15-12 overall and 1-1 in Big 12 play with the loss.
Chelsey Barclay (4-5) got the win for the Cowgirls, allowing no runs on three hits in four and a third innings.
Alyssa Ransom (6-7) was dealt the loss, going three innings and giving up three runs on five hits.
The Cyclones will host North Dakota State in a doubleheader on Monday at noon in their first home game of the season.
