Texas Tech Downs Cyclone Soccer, 3-1

LUBBOCK, Texas ? Texas Tech (4-6-1, 2-3-0 Big 12) scored three goals in a 10-minute span of the second half to defeat Iowa State, 3-1, Friday night at R.P. Fuller Stadium. The Cyclones (6-3-3, 2-2-1 Big 12) gave up more than two goals for the first time this season.

Stephanie Kaphingst gave the Cyclones the early lead with her third goal of the season, scoring off a set shot. The ball caromed off the post and into the net.

The rest of the first half went scoreless, but the Red Raiders scored the equalizer in the 61^st minute. Brittney Harrison headed in Sarabeth Clopton's free kick at the 60:30 mark. Less than six minutes later, Harrison assisted Zhaleh Rezaie, whose shot curved into the net at the 66:14 mark.

The flood gates rushed open just before the 70-minute mark as Haley Cdebaca scored her first career goal, unassisted, at the 69:49 mark.

Ann Gleason (6-3-3) made six saves in defeat. Tara Rincon (4-6-1) made five saves to earn the victory.

Tech took 26 shots, the most of any ISU opponent this season, and just the third time the opposition has taken more than 20 shots against the Cyclones. ISU took 14 shots.

The Cyclones return home Sunday for a non-conference match-up with Western Illinois (10-1-1, 4-0-0 Summit League). The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at ISU Soccer Complex. A live video webcast of Sunday's game will be made available to Clone Zone members.
