OSU Downs ISU In Second Game

AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State committed five errors and Oklahoma State put runs on the board in each of its at bats as the Cyclones fell, 10-1, in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader at the Southwest Athletics Complex.

Oklahoma State improves to 23-19 overall and 2-2 in Big 12 play. The Cyclones drop to 19-26 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

The Cyclones lone run came in their final at bat in the fifth inning as Courtney Wray grounded out to score Ashley Killeen from third base. Iowa State, which was held to three hits in the loss, was unable to extend the game as OSU's Anna Whiddon (10-5) held on to pick up the win. Whiddon allowed just three hits in the game.

Oklahoma State scored in each inning, including two in the first after a fielding error by the Cyclones allowed Courtney Totte to score from first on a routine single to centerfield. The Cowgirls added two more in the second inning, again using an error to extend the inning, to push the lead to 4-0.

The Cowgirls added another four runs in the third inning as the Cyclones didn't help their cause defensively, committing three errors in the inning. A single run in both the fourth and fifth rounded out OSU's scoring.

Kristy Olsen, Kristen Karanzias and Fallon Johnson accounted for the Cyclone hits but ISU stranded five runners on base in the loss.

Totte, who had six runs batted in during the first game, finished 1-for-2 with a pair of RBI. Shianne Cruce was 2-for-3 in the game for the Cowgirls.

Charissa Carlin (9-7) got the loss for Iowa State.

The Cyclones will look to get back on track Tuesday as they travel to Iowa City for a Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series showdown with Iowa. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. Live stats will be available at Cyclones.com.
