Iowa State Downs Alabama A&M, 98-40

AMES, Iowa - Tyrus McGee led a group of five Iowa State players in double figures with 18 points, as the Cyclones cruised to a 98-40 win over Alabama A&M Monday night in Hilton Coliseum.

McGee, who had 15 2^nd-half points, made 4-of-6 shots from downtown to help Iowa State (2-0 overall, 0-0 Big 12 Conference) stay unbeaten. The Cyclones were 11-of-20 from 3-point range to record 10 or more treys in a game for the 28^th time in the Fred Hoiberg era.

Melvin Ejim notched his eighth career double-double with 16 points and 10 boards. Freshman Georges Niang chipped in with 17 points.

Iowa State wasted little time in taking control of the game with a 17-2 run midway through the first half. Niang came off the bench to score nine points, drilling 4-of-5 shots in the first half.

Will Clyburn was extremely active, notching 13 points and eight boards in the first stanza, as the Cyclones went into the break holding a commanding 41-14 lead. The 14 points the Cyclones surrendered tied for the fifth-lowest opponent half total since 1950.

ISU outboarded AAMU, 29-9 in the opening period.

McGee scored 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, in the first 10 minutes of the second half to help the Cyclones jump out to a 76-28 lead. McGee and Niang hit back-to-back treys to push ISU out in front, 88-33 with 4:51 left in the game.

The 58-point deficit ties for the sixth-best margin of victory in school history.

The Cyclones outrebounded the Bulldogs, 46-23 and handed out 22 assists led by Naz Long's seven.

Iowa State is back in action vs. Campbell on Sunday (Nov. 18). Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.
