2. This is Iowa State's second trip to the Maui Jim Maui Invitational, with the last being the 1990 tournament under the direction of head coach Johnny Orr and star big man Victor Alexander...ISU went 1-2 in that tournament, beating Chaminade and falling to Syracuse and Santa Clara.
3. Freshman Tyrese Haliburton has 10 steals this season, which leads the Big 12...only two ISU players since 2010-11, Haliburton and current Denver Nugget Monte Morris, have recorded 10 steals in the season's first three games.
4. Michael Jacobson is one of three players in the Big 12 (Udoka Azubuike, Kansas; Lamont West, West Virginia) averaging 16 points and seven rebounds.
5. Talen Horton-Tucker is just the second ISU freshman in school history to have a 26-point effort in the first five games of his career...the other was Ron Harris in 1980-81 (27 vs. Drake).
LAST TIME OUT: SHAYOK, HORTON-TUCKER POUR IN 26 EACH IN WIN
• Iowa State got 26 points each from Shayok and Horton-Tucker, and a 13 point-13 rebound double-double from Weiler-Babb on its way to defeating Texas Southern, 85-73, Monday night at Hilton Coliseum.
• The Cyclones led by double-figures for much of the game, but Texas Southern kept it close because of 16 Cyclone turnovers.
• Jacobson had his third solid start of the season, finishing with 16 points and eight rebounds...he was 6-of-10 from the field.
• Defensively, ISU got four steals from Horton-Tucker and two more from Haliburton...Haliburton also had a team-high three blocks.
