AMES, Iowa – The No. 23 Iowa State Cyclones (6-3, 2-1 Big 12) took down the Southern Utah Thunderbirds (2-3) by a score of 195.375 - 195.250 on Friday night inside of Hilton Coliseum. After tonight's win, the Cyclones are currently riding a 10-meet winning streak in regular season meets at Hilton Coliseum.
No. 23 Iowa State's night was highlight by a great team bars performance (49.250), and fantastic individual performances from Meaghan Sievers, Laura Burns, and Grace Woolfolk.
Even though the Cyclones recorded a respectable team score tonight, head coach Jay Ronayne was focused on what the Cyclones have going forward.
"Looking forward, we have Sydney [Converse] back on two more events. ," Ronayne reflected. "Instead of her just competing on beam, we also have her on bars and vault, which is great. It's also very encouraging to see what we have done on bars the past couple of meets. Also, I know we'll find our stride and keep fighting on floor."
Uneven Bars
Iowa State has been on a roll lately, scoring a 49.275 at West Virginia and posting a 49.250 on bars tonight. Meaghan Sievers and Laura Burns has great routines tallying 9.900s. Iowa State also used two 9.825s to start the event from Maddy Langkamp and Madeline Johnson. In just her second meet in the ISU bars lineup, Sydney Converse recorded a 9.800 and Cassie Diaz notched a 9.750.
Vault
Iowa State opened the night on vault scoring a 49.025 as a team. ISU was led by Meaghan Sievers scoring a 9.850. Phoebe Turner had a very nice routine earning a 9.800, while Sydney Converse competed on vault for the first time since her injury scoring a 9.700. There were three other Cyclones to compete on vault. Kelly Martin posted a 9.775, Ariana Orrego tallied a 9.725 and Sophia Steinmeyer notched a 9.650.

"We stuck a lot of landings on vault and that's one of the critical things we have been missing. I'm pleased with the momentum we were able to create on vault tonight."
Balance Beam
Iowa State posted the second highest team beam score of the season with a 48.850. Grace Woolfolk led the way for ISU scoring a 9.875. Meixi Semple and Cassie Diaz had solid routines notching 9.775s. Sydney Converse in the lead- off spot added a 9.750 and Meaghan Sievers and Molly Russ added a pair of 9.675s.

"I've been working really hard on beam. Since this is my only event, I've been given the chance to show off what I have been working for by being put in the anchor spot. It worked out very well and I'm really happy about it."
Floor Exercise
The Cyclones finished the night on floor scoring a 48.425 as a team. Meaghan Sievers had the best routine of the night scoring a 9.850. This is fourth time this year she has scored a 9.850 or above. Laura Burns added the next highest score earning a 9.725 while Both Maddy Langkamp and Molly Russ scored a 9.675. Sophia Steinmeyer rounded out the group scoring a 9.500.
All Around
Meaghan Sievers was Iowa State's only all-arounder. Sievers posted a 39.275 which is tied for her second highest all-around score of the season.
Up Next
No. 23 Iowa State will hit the road and travel to St. Charles, Mo.O for the Mardi Gras Invitational. The Cyclones will meet Illinois State, Lindenwood and SEMO Southeast Missouri with the meet beginning at 2 p.m. This will be the second time Iowa State has competed against Illinois State and Lindenwood this year.
