AMES, Iowa – The fifth-ranked Iowa State Cyclones close the dual portion of the schedule Wednesday night against No. 9 Missouri. The Cyclones and Tigers enter the match in the top two spots in the Big 12 standings. The first match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Mo. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+, with live results on TrackWrestling.
KEY STORYLINES
-Iowa State enters Wednesday's dual with the second-longest dual winning streak in the country with 12-straight victories. Penn State holds the top spot with 27 straight. Central Michigan (11), Cornell (9) and Appalachian State (7) are the only other schools with more than six-straight victories in the country.
-On Friday, Iowa State traveled to No. 18 Northern Iowa and picked up a 16-15 victory over the Panthers. Trailing by six with two matches remaining, Yonger Bastida (197) earned a 21-8 major decision before Sam Schuyler (285) recorded a takedown with :11 left to win his match 3-1 for the Cyclone victory.
-The Cyclones were a perfect 8-0 in duals in January, the first time Iowa State has been perfect in a month with more than three duals since going 4-0 in February 2015.
-In 11 duals in 2022, Iowa State has lost just 21 matches. The Cyclones are 89-21 in dual matches on the back portion of the schedule and given up bonus points three times.
-The Cyclones have tallied 326 takedowns in duals this season, led by 73 from Bastida. David Carr (41), Sam Schuyler (34) and Jarrett Degen (30) join Bastida with over 30 takedowns. Bastida has scored 83 points in his last four matches.
