AMES, Iowa - Iowa State track & field's Rachel Joseph has been named the Cyclone Club Athlete of the Week after her outstanding performance at the Big 12 Championships.
Joseph placed herself among the best in Big 12 history when she won the 400m outdoor title to compliment her indoor title in the same event. The junior became the 10th woman in Big 12 history to take both titles in a season.
Joseph won the event convincingly by over a second with a 50.81, while the next-fastest time was 51.87. It marks her third-fastest 400m time, and she now owns the top 14 times (indoor and outdoor) in school history.
Up next, the postseason continues as qualifiers for NCAA West Prelims will be announced this week and will compete May 28-31 with Texas A&M playing host.
About the Cyclone Club
The Cyclone Club spearheads the fundraising efforts for the Iowa State Athletic department and gifts of all sizes directly impact the lives of over 450 student-athletes at Iowa State. Annual Cyclone Club gifts provide ISU student-athletes the opportunity to compete in their sport at the highest level, while preparing them to utilize their Iowa State degree once their athletic careers have concluded. Iowa State Athletics does not receive any State or University funding to operate, thereby making it one of the nation's only financially self-sufficient athletic programs.
