AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team is set to kick off its 2026 spring season this Thursday at the Jayhawk Invitational in Lawrence, Kansas, as the Cyclones will look to continue their steady improvement from the first two years under head coach Jaron Maestas.
FALL RECAP
Iowa State had a strong fall season, highlighted by Mari Paz Alberto Vilar and Stanislava Shulzhenko becoming the first doubles pair in program history to earn a berth to the NCAA Doubles Championships, where they reached the Round of 16. Alberto Vilar and Shulzhenko enter the spring as the nation's No. 34-ranked doubles team.
NEW FACES
ISU took an already strong lineup and added Australian prep Alicia Dale and Ecuadorian Valentina Vargas to the team this spring.
JAYHAWK INVITATIONAL
The tournament consists of a round-robin of unofficial matches between Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and Memphis. The Cyclones will begin play at 10 a.m. Thursday morning against Kansas State, followed by matches at 10 a.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday against Kansas and Memphis, respectively.
