FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Carleigh Berry hit a walk-off seventh inning double as Iowa State defeated Drake, 2-1, Saturday afternoon at the Razorback Invitational. The win, the 100th of head coach Stacy Gemeinhardt-Cesler's career at ISU, improves the Cyclones to 9-10 this season.
Berry's double came after Drake tied it at 1-1 in the top half of the seventh on an RBI double from Kelsey Kahler off Cyclone reliever Rachel Zabriskie.
Berry stepped to the plate with two outs and pinch runner Amandine Habben at third base. Facing relief pitcher Mandy Osborn, Berry roped a double, her second of the year, to score Habben to win the game.
ISU scored its first run in the second inning as Amanda Bradberry laid down a perfect bunt and Alex Johnson came in to score from third on the squeeze play.
Zabriskie (9-5) picked up the win for the Cyclones, but it was Tori Torrescano who did most of the work. Torrescano pitched arguably her best game as a Cyclone, giving up four hits in five innings, but keeping the Bulldogs off the scoreboard.
Osborn (0-1) took the loss for the Bulldogs, tossing two-thirds of an inning in relief.
Berry, Bradberry and Johnson had the only hits for the Cyclones, who won their second straight. Johnson's hitting streak is now at six games.
The Cyclones will be back in action this evening when they face Arkansas at 5:30 p.m.
