LUBBOCK, Texas-The Iowa State soccer team fell 6-1 Sunday afternoon to No. 19 Texas Tech at the John Walker Soccer Complex in Lubbock, Texas.
Turning Point of the Game
The Red Raiders scored a flurry of early goals to jump out to a quick lead. Janine Beckie got Texas Tech on the board first scoring in the 15th minute. She was followed by Ashley Casey and Allie Murphy who each scored goals putting the Red Raiders up 3-0. Koree Willer answered the call putting the Cyclones on the board in the 33rd minute, but Texas Tech fired back with another goal of their own in the 42nd minute. Texas Tech controlled two more goals in the second half to put the game away 6-1.
Cyclone Game Ball Goes to…
Koree Willer. The sophomore was able to provide a little life for the Cyclones in the 33rd minute, scoring her 10th goal of the season. Willer now has a goal in back to back games. Her 10th goal this season is tied for fourth best in a season by a Cyclone in the record book.
Game Notes
* Senior goalkeeper Andrea Swanson recorded five saves. She now has 231 saves in her career.
*Koree Willer moved into a fourth place tie for goals scored in a season (10) in the Iowa State record book. She also now holds the ninth-best mark for goals in a career (14).
*Freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Hendon saw her first action as a Cyclone. She recorded three saves.
*Freshman midfielder Macy Vrabel recorded her first career start.
