AMES, Iowa – Iowa State's Aiden Flora was named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week while the Cyclone offensive line was tabbed the league's offensive line of the week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
It is Flora's second Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week nod this season (Week 0) and marks Iowa State's eighth Big 12 Player of the Week honor in 2025. It is ISU's first O-line recognition of the season, while the defensive line was recognized twice previously.
Aiden Flora – Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week
With the Cyclones trailing TCU, 17-12, with under seven minutes to play, Flora returned a punt 79 yards for the game-winning score in Iowa State's 20-17 road victory against the Horned Frogs on Saturday. It was the first punt return TD by a Cyclone since 2017 and is ISU's longest for a TD since 2015. It is the longest punt return in the Big 12 this season and ranks top-10 nationally.
While not eligible for the national rankings, Flora's 41.4 average per punt return is first among players with at least five returns this season. He also had a 23-yard kick return against the Horned Frogs and played on four special teams units – kickoff, kick return, punt and punt return.
Flora's touchdown helped Iowa State erase an 11-point 4th-quarter deficit to win, tied for the sixth-largest 4th-quarter comeback in program history (since 1960).
Cyclone O-Line – Big 12 Offensive Line of the Week
Iowa State's offensive line paved the way for yet another 100-yard rusher Saturday against TCU with Carson Hansen's 108-yard effort. It marked ISU's fourth consecutive game with a 100-yard rusher.
The O-Line allowed only one sack on the stat sheet against the Horned Frogs, which was credited on an intentional grounding penalty.
Iowa State is averaging 182.8 rushing yards per game and 5.1 yards per carry over the last four games.
