Leading Off
Iowa State will host Iowa Tuesday in the second of two Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series contests. The Cyclones already claimed a point in the series on April 8, winning in Iowa City 9-7. The teams split last year's games, one apiece.
Iowa State enters Tuesday's game coming off a 2-1 Big 12 series win over BYU. The Cyclones took the opener and rubber match against the Cougars, earning their second conference series win of the season.
Since the teams last met, Iowa has gone 2-5 and is coming off a home series loss to Indiana. 2-12 in their last 14, the Hawkeyes will aim to get back on track against their in-state foe.

Scouting the Cyclones
Iowa State's offense is led by senior standout Reagan Bartholomew, who leads the team in batting average (.432), runs (49), hits (60), homers (13) and walks (26). Bartholomew is seventh in the Big 12 in batting average and fifth in hits.
Tatum Johnson and Jessie Clemons are tied for the second-most hits on the team (55) and second-most runs scored. Clemons leads the country in doubles with 20, while Johnson leads the team in RBI with 44. Johnson (10), as well as Kadence Shepherd (12), are the only Cyclones outside of Bartholomew with double-figure homers.
In the circle, four Cyclones have seen the majority of action. Lauren Schurman leads the way with a team-low ERA of 3.97. Schurman has hurled 121.2 innings, a team-high, and owns 70 punchouts, also a team-high. Freshman Liv Palumbo (6-3), senior Jaiden Ralston (2-5), and Michigan State transfer Ava Mullen (4-4) round out the staff for ISU.
The Cyclones own a .331 batting average and have produced 318 runs on 401 hits. The team has 159 extra-base hits with 296 RBI and has drawn 182 walks. ISU holds a collective 5.02 ERA and fields the ball at a .971 clip.
Opponent Outlook
Iowa's offense is led by Devin Simon, who bats a team-best .329 at the plate. Simon holds the most hits (48) and the highest on-base percentage (.411) of any Hawkeye. Kiara Sipe leads the team in RBI (31) and is the only other Hawk batting over .300 at .317.
The Hawkeyes use a balanced bullpen, as four pitchers have made at least 22 appearances on the year. Serayah Neiss has appeared in the most games (32) and thrown the most innings (106.1) and leads the team in strikeouts with 66.
